what if your life really is an artwork? would that change the way you live it?

the metaphor of our life being a blank canvas for us to paint, or a movie for us to script are very common. It is inspiring, and often just to the point of "Oh, I would create it like this and that and then add more of this and that.." and then the life you're living right now calls for your attention and the dream is forgotten.

inspiration has somehow turned into a little side distraction for whenever there is a little empty moment to fill.

But somehow the idea, that a life could actually look like the one you just created in your head is delusional and just available for others....?

who actually decided that?

what if you could just decide something else, for no other reason than making yourself happy.

what would you decide then?

and what if your life really is a canvas, do you like what you've created on it? or are you trying to justify a mess with "Oh, I'm just not a great artist, I'm just normal, and grateful for all the good colors that are on there - it could be so much worse!"

what does that really mean to you?

what is good for you? what is worse for you?

and are those really your ideas?

or did you copy your art from someone else? and now you've got to be grateful that it's not as bad as that of your neighbor?

while you were painting on that canvas did you actually notice the brush in your hands?

did you know what you were doing?

or just following the teachers instructions?

and if you were really honest with yourself -

if you were painting consciously, and there were no rules to it, no right or wrong.

what would you actually paint? which colors would you actually use? which shapes and forms? and how much would you enjoy it?

or would you get stuck on the idea that it can't be painted over, or you're not allowed to follow your own creativity?

what does all of this tell you about your life?

were you ever consciously there to create it?

or did you just follow the families footsteps or society's expectations?

and if you could create it like a piece of art, would that actually change the way you live it? and would that over time change the way it looks and feels entirely?

would you follow your own ideas of happiness?
